What to Expect in Marching Band

What to Expect in Marching Band

  1. Morning Rehearsal
    • Monday – Friday, each day when school is in session
    • Every student on the field at 6:30 am ready to go with instruments, water, music, charts, and marching shoes
      • Shoes provided as part of your Band Booster Fee
  2. Evening Rehearsal
    • Each Tuesday when school is in session
      • FULL BAND: 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm (time may be adjusted by Mrs. Mireau as needed)
      • COLOR GUARD: after school for about an hour as a section AND with the full band from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
    • Students on the field with instruments, water, music, charts, and marching shoes
  3. Sectionals
    • Directly after school once per week for about an hour (may occasionally be twice weekly)
      • Day of the week is determined by Mrs. Mireau and Section Leader

  1. Dinner Sectionals
    • Each section may go out to dinner at a restaurant OR have food catered into the band room so that every band member has a full tummy prior to the start of the football game.
      • If going out to a restaurant, it is the responsibility of you and your student to discuss transportation to and from dinner. We want everyone to be SAFE!
    • This is an excellent time for relaxing and bonding that the students really enjoy!
  2. Call Time
    • Usually between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm, but this is subject to change as Mrs. Mireau sees fit. Travel times to away schools vary.
  3. Return Home
    • Students are typically ready to go home around 10:00 pm, but this is also subject to change.
    • For away games only, each student is expected to help unload the trailer!

  1. Summer Marching Band Camp
    • Price is usually determined in April.
  2. Band Booster Fees
    • This is determined by the Boosters and covers only a small portion of the overall cost of the marching band season.
    • Costs include, but are not limited to:
      • Dry cleaning of marching uniforms
      • Shoes and gloves for all band members (except Drumline, who does not use gloves)
      • (2) T-shirts for each band member (except Color Guard, who gets (1) t-shirt).
      • (4) Additional instructors
